Since our start in 2007, we have specialised in publications on free speech and threats against it and in books that may not interest Danish mainstream publishing houses. It is our intention to publish fiction as well as non-fiction. The Free Speech Library is associated with the Danish Free Press Society, but operates as an independent company under its own editorial management.

We share our logo depicting the Greek poet Sappho with The Free Press Society. Plato regarded Sappho as the tenth muse. To us she is the muse of free speech. Sappho is also the name of The Free Press Society's internet magazine. It is through Sappho that we keep the public informed about new publications, special offers, meetings with authors etc. Please click here if you would like to receive our free electronic newsletter.

Speeches and conferences arranged by The Free Speech Library, The Free Press Society or Sappho are open to everybody. Here you will be able to buy our publications, normally at a discount. You may also order them on-line. Click here to see how. Our publications may of course also be ordered through any book store.

Book titles in English

Trykkefrihedsselskabets Bibliotek (The Free Speech Library) published its first book in 2008 and has now put out 16 titles. Here are the ones that have little or nothing to do with Islam:

Ole Humlum: Det ustyrlige klima: Eksperternes vej fra forskere til flagellanter (The Intractable Climate: The Experts’ Road from Scientists to Flagellants)

Robert Redeker: Man må prøve at leve (One Must Try to Live) – a translation of his French book Il faut tenter de vivre.

Mikael Jalving and Lars Hedegaard (eds.): Frihedens væsen: Fra Perikles til Hirsi Ali (The Essence of Freedom: From Pericles to Hirsi Ali) – a collection of writings over 2500 years.

Thomas Østergaard Aallmann: Løvehjerter: Med panserinfanteristerne i Helmand (Lionhearts: With the Armoured Troops in Helmand)

Ole Hasselbalch: Dragsdahl-sagen: KGB og historieforskningen (The Dragsdahl Case: The KGB and Historical Research)

Lars Hedegaard: Verden var så rød, mor: Erindringer 1942-1980 (The World Was so Red, Mother: Memoirs 1942-1980) – The title sounds better in Danish

Mogens Camre: Knus tyrannerne: Erindringer (Crush the Tyrants: Memoirs)

About Sennels' book Among Criminal Muslims

An ongoing debate about Among Criminal Muslims has taken place in New York Times. To avoid further confusion about the book and its content, here some facts in English:

Here is, first of all, the review in the Danish professional journal Psykolog Nyt (Phychologist’s News) No. 10, 2009 by Kjeld Hesselmann:

http://infolink2003.elbo.dk/PsyNyt/Dokumenter/doc/15956.pdf

This is a translation of his conclusion:

“With due reference to the classics in the field, this reviewer must make the observation that Nicolai Sennels does not move beyond established psychological facts. The fact that reality contradicts what is currently desirable on the political and media Parnassus cannot be helped. – In any event, Sennels obliges those voices in society that from time to time look for a competent professional input on societal phenomena that cannot be immediately interpreted. And he does so with a serious approach to his unfortunate clients. [His book] ... is characterised by curiosity and wonderment in addition to a humanist wish to make a difference, [which] acquits the author of accusations of partiality and prejudice.”

The review concludes with this observation:

“Among Criminal Muslims is a [thought]-provoking eyeopener, convincing and well founded and with concrete examples. It ought to be read particularly by those who think that more of same (that does not work) is good. I await their plea with anticipation.”
